Netflicks

For the longest time I was not a part of the NetFlicks online dvd renting wave. I sat on the sidelines, listening to friends and colleagues discuss NetFlicks and hear about how great the program was. I actually even had a housemate who was a Netflicks member, and she routinely had batches of dvds being delivered to our house. Still, I never took the time to sign up myself—until recently.

And I can’t tell you how glad I am that I did. Netflicks has absolutely blown me away. First of all, did you know that Netflicks isn’t limited to physical DVDs? You can actually watch thousands of movies online, instantly. I was literally watching a movie(watched Malcolm X with Denzel Washington) within 15 minutes of enrolling in the NetFlicks program.

Netflicks also has a really cool system for finding movies that you might not have heard about that you probably would be interested in. How do they do this? Well they ask you to rate movies you’ve already seen, and based on the ratings you give, the Netflicks algorithm is able to determine what other movies you are likely to enjoy as well. It’s a really cool program, and the more movies you rate, the better Netflicks gets at coming up with suggestions that you actually would have a good time watching. I can’t recommend Netflicks strongly enough.
